Legendary cricketer Kapil Dev suffered a heart attack and underwent an angioplasty at a hospital in Delhi. The World Cup winning captain is stable and out of danger now.
Legendary cricketer Kapil Dev has suffered a heart attack. Kapil Dev, who won India her first World Cup in 1983, was admitted to Fortis Escorts Heart Institute in New Delhi. After suffering the attack, Kapil Dev underwent angioplasty surgery at the hospital. According to a report in Mumbai Mirror, the World Cup winning captain is stable and out of danger. Soon after the news of him suffering the heart attack took social media by storm, fans have been pouring in get well soon wishes for the former Indian cricketer.
Veteran cricket commentator Harsha Bhogle took to Twitter to wish Dev a speedy recovery. He tweeted, “Wishing the big-hearted, mighty Kapil Dev a speedy recovery. So much more to do,” while Former India coach and Dev’s 1983 Wolrd Cup-winning teammate Madan Lal wrote, “Please join me in sending prayers, strength and good wishes to Kapil and Romi Dev for his speedy recovery. Kapil was taken to the hospital in time as he complained of uneasiness. As per the doctors the procedure has been successful and he will be home soon. @vikrantgupta73.”
Meanwhile, Ranveer Singh is gearing up to play Kapil Dev in Kabir Khan’s directorial ’83. Before the lockdown was imposed, the makers wrapped up the shoot. ’83 is based on India’s tremendous win against West Indies. Ranveer’s real-life wife Deepika Padukone will step into the shoes of Kapil Dev’s wife Romi Dev.
In a glorious career of 16 years, Kapil Dev took 687 international wickets and scored over 9000 runs in 356 matches. He last for India in October 1994.
